Dr. Andrew Holtz is the Director of Mechanized Equipment Development for D’Arrigo Bros. Co. of California.
His career has involved engineering research and development across several industries and sectors with the majority of work involving mobile equipment for harsh environments. These areas include Agricultural and Construction equipment, Post-harvest engineering, Subsea robotics for the oil & gas industry, agricultural chemical application and dispersal systems as well as agricultural ergonomics.
Outside of the private sector, Andrew served for 8 years as an assistant and associate professor in BioResource and Agricultural Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he taught and mentored some of the finest students now leading the Ag industry. While in academia Andrew focused on practical multidisciplinary projects typically involving mechanical design and system optimization for agricultural systems.
His current work entails mechanization, automation and process improvement for the harvesting of high quality fresh cut vegetables.
Dr. Holtz is a registered Mechanical Engineer in the State of California. He received his BS and DEngr degrees in Agricultural Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO and UC Davis, respectively.
