Elemental Agronomy creates small autonomous robots that dramatically reduce herbicide use for row-crop farmers using computer vision and spot spraying. The low-cost weeder is economical even when assigned to a single field, enabling farmers to effectively weed all of their fields at once. Each robot covers the entire field (up to 200 acres) every ten days, ensuring all weeds are eliminated before they produce seed. Stubborn, herbicide-resistant weeds are visited multiple times, enabling adaptive techniques that learn the best region-specific method to manage every type of weed in every situation.
The same base robot supports a soil sampling payload that samples the entire field at high density to inform variable fertilization rates.
