Agriculture is central to Yakima County’s economy, identity, and global significance. As a co-organizer of FIRA USA, Yakima County funded a feasibility study to determine the region’s capacity to host the event and advance agricultural technology, address industry challenges, and attract investment to Yakima County.
By co-hosting FIRA-USA, Yakima County helps bring growers, agricultural businesses, technology developers, researchers, public and private partners together in one of the country’s most productive agricultural regions.
Yakima County serves approximately 260,000 residents in south-central Washington State. The County is governed by a three-member Board of County Commissioners, which serves as its legislative and executive authority, and provides essential services that support residents, businesses, and communities throughout the region. These include law enforcement, courts, corrections, emergency management, elections, property assessment, tax administration, public records, and public health.
Through its own investments in infrastructure, economic development, and regional partnerships, the County strengthens agriculture and other key industries while supporting innovation and long-term economic resilience. Through its Supporting Investments in Economic Development (SIED) program, Yakima County finances public infrastructure projects that support business development, private investment, and job creation throughout the county.
