About Nancy Deringer

Nancy Deringer is an Associate Dean at Washington State University, an educator, and a leader passionate about helping young people discover where their talents, interests, and ideas can take them in agriculture and the human sciences.
Nancy grew up on a fifth-generation dairy farm in Wisconsin, where she learned that agriculture is about more than crops and animals. It is about people, communities, innovation, problem-solving, and the courage to try something new. Those lessons continue to shape how she sees agriculture’s future.
Her expertise spans agriculture and the human sciences, personal finance, consumer economics, education, student success, and workforce development. She has secured federal, state, and foundation funding to expand opportunities and career pathways for students pursuing post secondary education.
Nancy believes there has never been a more exciting time to explore a career in agriculture. Robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, data science, precision agriculture, and emerging technologies are transforming what is possible and creating opportunities for a new generation with diverse talents and perspectives.
As moderator of the panel, Nancy hopes students leave seeing themselves as part of the story. Agriculture needs your curiosity, creativity, and willingness to challenge what is possible. The technologies may be new, but the opportunity is timeless: solve real problems, improve lives, and make a difference. The future of agriculture is being built right now, and your generation can lead the way.
