The VINE, a program hosted by UC ANR’s Office of Innovation and operated by Farmhand Ventures, was established to meet the growing demand for practical, industry-driven innovation in California’s agrifood sector. We prioritize a “market pull” approach, ensuring that technology development is guided by real-world needs rather than assumptions. This leads to more relevant and impactful innovations that directly enhance efficiency, sustainability, and productivity in California agriculture. By offering resources such as business development courses, field trials, grants, mentorship, and equity-based investments, we support companies and early-stage technologies in scaling, transitioning from concept to commercialization, and succeeding in the state’s agricultural market.
