Prof. Raj Khosla is the Cashup Davis Family Endowed Dean of College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) at Washington State University and is a globally recognized authority on Precision Agriculture. He has been engaged in precision agriculture since inception and has made significant contributions in the development and spread of Precision Agriculture worldwide. He is the Founder and Past-President of the International Society of Precision Agriculture.
He is the co-author of the National Academy of Science consensus study report on Science Breakthrough Advancing Food and Agricultural Research by 2030. Previously, he was named the Jefferson Science Fellow by the National Academy of Sciences and was appointed as the Senior Science Advisor on Food Security to the U.S. Department of State. Additionally, he has served two 2-year terms on the NASA’s “US Presidential Advisory Board on Positioning, Navigation and Timing” to work on the US space-based GPS policy.
His research specializes in harnessing spatial and temporal heterogeneity in managed agro-ecosystems and translating those into better decision models. His group has extensively employed remote sensing and other geospatial data-layers and pioneered novel techniques of stratifying productivity classes in crop fields, to enhance production, nitrogen and water use efficiency, economic returns, and sustainability of managed agro-ecosystems. Currently, Dr. Khosla is co-leading multi-state, multi-year, federally funded efforts to co-develop and evaluate the next generation of sensors, and novel AI algorithms to enhance water and nitrogen use efficiencies in irrigated production systems.
Prof. Khosla is the Fellow of American Society of Agronomy; Fellow of Soil Science Society of America; Fellow of Soil and Water Conservation Society, Fellow of American Association for Advancement of Science, and Honorary Life Fellow of International Society of Precision Agriculture.
